This London project features a clever folding shower screen that transforms a bathtub into a shower when needed. The screen's unique wall-recessed design means it completely disappears when bath time calls, yet provides full splash protection during showers. It's a perfect example of how our shower screen design maximises both form and function in a small space.
Our client's bathroom featured a prebuilt wall recess. We carefully measured this space and designed a folding shower screen to fit it perfectly. When not in use, the screen folds away flush against the wall.
This dual-purpose space lets our client enjoy both relaxing baths and refreshing showers without compromise. The folding screen springs to life only when needed, making this a truly smart bathroom feature.
The screen pairs beautifully with the light crème microcement walls, which create a warm, waterproof finish throughout. We matched the brushed nickel hinges to the shower controls for a cohesive look.
Notice how the screen sits perfectly level with the red bath surround. This precise fit keeps water inside the shower area when the screen is unfolded, while maintaining clean lines across the bathroom.
The 10mm acid-etched glass provides privacy without blocking light. We placed the textured side facing outward toward the bathroom, keeping the smooth inner side easier to clean with our standard easy-clean coating.
The frameless design makes the screen feel light and airy despite its solid construction. Small self-adhesive seals on the bottom edge work perfectly with the level bath surface to prevent leaks.
When fully opened, the folding shower screen creates a complete water barrier next to the bath. The screen height aligns perfectly with the shower area, preventing splashes while maintaining an open feel.
