frameless glass shower enclosure with brass hinges and dual fixed screens

Let's define the Shower Enclosure

A shower enclosure is a barrier that stops water from spilling into the rest of the bathroom. It can be on top of a shower tray or a tiled floor designed for wet areas. Any shower enclosure contains at least two glass panels - a shower door to enter the space and a fixed screen.

If you're looking for a shower without a door, consider our selection of shower screens. We offer various types, including walk-in shower screens and bath screens.

Door opening types in a Shower

Bathroom furniture, floor layout, tray shape, and sloped ceiling often limit shower access. Fortunately, several door types exist to help with the issue. If you send us pictures of your bathroom, our team is ready to help with challenging projects and advice. But before, let's discuss the main types of doors used in shower enclosures.

hinged shower enclosure door with nickel hinges

Hinged Doors require more space to open

Traditionally, hinges for frameless showers swing inwards and outwards 90 degrees on each side. They have springs inside that straighten the door in the last bit of closing. The average size of the hinged doors is usually between 600mm and 750mm. However, some hinge variations can hold up to 1,000mm wide shower doors.

Choose bifold to reduce door swing size

Bifold doors can be better for small trays or limited access. These doors consist of two or more panels that fold against each other. Their hinges allow them to fold 180 degrees, but only one of the sides. Such a setup reduces the door swing substantially and works best on trays less than 1,000mm.

Sliding Doors require wider trays

Sliding shower doors are glass panels that slide along another glass or wall. In most cases, they have a sliding track above with moving carriages that slide and keep the door hanging. There should be sufficient travel space and clearance for the door to move. Sliding doors in enclosures suit best trays wider than 1,000mm.

Glass Shower Enclosure shapes

Everyone has different preferences for where to place a glass shower enclosure in a bathroom. Some bathrooms only allow for specific locations because of their layout. Fortunately, we can create any type and shape of shower enclosure to meet your needs.

inline shower enclosure with chrome hinges

Inline Shower Enclosure

We can enclose a wide shower area containing three tiled walls with glass panels arranged in a line. If the space is too wide for a single door, we can add one or more panels next to it. We call this setup an inline shower enclosure.

One of the walls can support the door, which is best. However, if a towel radiator is in the way, we can hinge the door from another glass panel to avoid clashing.

corner shower enclosure with blue tile

Corner Shower Enclosure

Pentagon showers, corner sliding cubicles, and cubicles in the corner are all corner shower enclosures. These setups are typical for small ensuites and bathrooms with limited space.

Positioning shower cubicles in corners helps save space in a bathroom. It allows the installation of bathroom furniture right next to the shower. You can use both sides of the shower, and we will make the opening at the corner.

three sided shower cubicle with frosting square

3-Sided Shower Enclosure

Three-sided shower enclosures use only one wall in your bathroom. They provide more options for the entry, and you can choose any side of it.

These cubicles require more space and are best suited for larger bathrooms. However, they offer a different shower experience. Light comes in from all sides, making the space feel less cramped.

Make your shower enclosure the way you want

All our shower enclosures are made in Britain and can be changed to fit your needs. Since we make them here, you can adjust any detail. The glass can have a unique design. The hinges and handles can come in different metal finishes or made to your specifications.

At our company, we're here to take care of everything for you, from measuring to installation! Our friendly office team works hard to ensure you're satisfied with our products at every step.

Survey

A site surveyor will visit the location to check that the largest glass panel can fit into the room. We take full responsibility for the final dimensions. We also discuss other setup options and take the details.

Design

Our design team makes the confirmation process easier for you. We create 3D sketches of every shower enclosure we make, and these are to scale. Our simple designs help identify problems you could miss in complicated CAD designs.

Production

We'll start production after we nail down the design and get the final measurements. Our production creates the shower enclosure based on these specifications. The goal is to get the exact sizes to fit perfectly in the intended space.

Installation

Our skilled fitters will install the shower based on the design we confirmed. All our teams have professional shower enclosure fitters. Accurately, installing a standard frameless shower cubicle takes a full working day.

Frameless shower enclosure offers a sleek, modern look

Frameless shower enclosures are popular because of their simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and tidy look. A well-designed and installed frameless shower can catch anyone's attention in a bathroom.

Versatile

A frameless design could be the best choice for shower enclosures that meet a sloped ceiling or have uneven lines. Frames generally look their best with horizontal and vertical lines. However, there can be exceptions.

Clean

Frameless showers are great for bright, open spaces and a clean design. Our frameless shower doors have small seals around the edges. We can build the fixed screens into the walls, which helps hide visible fixtures. This design creates a look without visible frames or brackets.

Sleek

Consider a sliding frameless shower enclosure for a clean look without much metal. We can hide the sliding track in the ceiling. Instead of a standard handle, we can create a circular hole in the glass door as a handle. We can also use Optiwhite glass, the most pure type, ensuring you only see the glass with minimal metal.

Cost-effective

The great advantage of custom-made frameless shower enclosures is their cost-effectiveness. For years, suppliers of shower door components have competed, offering a variety of choices. We provide 24 standard metal finishes for hinges. We can also create custom finishes to match your shower heads and controls if needed.

Fixed glass panel installation options

A glass shower enclosure needs a fixed glass panel connected to one of the walls. Using bulky fixtures on the wall can make the shower look less appealing. We attach the fixed screens to walls using several different methods.

frameless enclosure with wall brackets

Wall Brackets

Wall brackets are metal fixtures about 50mm x 50mm. They clamp the glass on both sides, but the leg we fix to the wall with a screw. We leave a 2-3mm gap between the glass and the wall, which we seal with an anti-fungal effect sealant.

three sided shower with black U-channels

U-profiles

U-profiles are glazing profiles that support glass on walls. We apply mastic between the wall, the profile, and inside it. As a result, the water won't penetrate, but you won't see the sealant. Over time, if mould grows on the sealant, it won't be visible.

marble wall with glass recessed into it

Recessed into tiles

We can use the tile or stone slab to hold the screen to avoid using metal parts. A tiler creates a suitable groove, and we fix the glass in it. The mastic seal we can match to your grout or the finish of the marble. This method gives a clean and tidy appearance.

Framed shower enclosures are trending in design

To clarify, we discuss here custom shower enclosures made to your needs. Customised framed shower enclosures differ significantly from the cheap DIY enclosures in online stores. In other words, you get what you pay for.

slim frame nickel plated shower enclosure

Slim Frames

We strive to make our frames as slim and neat as possible. You won't find that online, as it dramatically complicates the production and installation processes. Those online store choices made in bulk appear rather bulky.

Hidden Fixtures

Our framed shower enclosures have no visible fixtures. We hide the bolts inside the frame. In contrast, suppliers of ready-made DIY options construct those for easy installation and keep the bolts visible. They make the installation process simpler for the client.

Reinforced Frames

We craft our frames from aluminium and strengthen them with carbon fibre. It improves the stiffness as it's stronger than steel. Aluminium allows the imitation of various metal finishes. Yet, we can use natural brass material if required.

Made To The Size

Creating custom frames takes time, which is why they cost more. When we install them, we ensure that we perfectly adjust everything on-site, down to the smallest detail. The wait might be longer, but it is worth it. The finished products look amazing!

Various Finishes

Our frames usually have a black finish. That is common for industrial-style shower enclosures with black-grid designs. We can create frames in many RAL colours if you prefer a different style. We also offer bronze or brass options for an extra charge.

Safety Glass

We use safety glass for our shower enclosures. If toughened glass shatters, it breaks into small pieces to reduce injury risks. For extra safety, we can laminate two toughened panels together. If they break, the interlayer keeps the pieces in place.

We Match Metal Finish To Your Needs

A quality glass shower enclosure can enhance the appearance of your bathroom. A large item like this is a key element that influences the overall design. Almost any shower enclosure has visible metal parts. So, it's best to have these parts match the other metal accessories in your bathroom.

Black Ironmongery

Black frame shower enclosures appear stunning in bright and modern bathrooms. If your interior is bright, a black-framed shower enclosure can provide the contrast it lacks.

We do black metal parts for both framed and frameless enclosures. If you don't like the doors having frames, we can design one of our frameless options in black. Yet, if you like dark finishes, you can get even tinted glass.

Black Grid Design

If you are considering traditional décor for your bathroom, you might opt for a black grid design. It pairs nicely with reeded glass, which we also provide. Many choose it for extra privacy, and it pairs nicely with the traditional British design.

Our reeded glass shower enclosures are available in laminated toughened glass. If this glass breaks, it won't scatter across the floor but will remain in one piece, making it completely safe.

Other Finishes are Brass, Bronze and Nickel

Brass metal finishes are now the second most popular choice for shower fixtures after chrome. Many high-end projects often choose finishes like brass, bronze, and nickel.

We can use unlacquered brass for our frames and fixtures so it builds patina over time. We can also imitate finishes like brass, copper, gunmetal, bronze, or nickel. Besides the polished effect, we can do satin or brushed.

Why Shower Enclosures From Caledora?

We do not sell shower enclosures from other makers; we manufacture them ourselves. Our goal is to become the top shower enclosure supplier in the UK. To achieve this, we always look at how to improve our services.

Discounts

When you order two or more products for the same address, we offer volume discounts with a decreased cost per subsequent item.

Quality Control

We check the quality at every step of our process. Whether it's design, production, or installation, someone double-checks. However, if something goes wrong, we will fix it immediately.

Installation Included

Our bathroom shower enclosures include survey, design, and installation services in the total price. You won't have to worry about anything as we handle the entire process.

Easy clean treatment

The innovative glass coating repels water and dirt away from shower screens. It helps protect against stains, etching, limescale, and hard water build-up. As a result, it makes cleaning faster and means you don't have to clean as often.

Tiny door seals

Self-adhesive small-size shower door seals look great on a door perimeter. They're not noticeable on shower cubicle doors and look fantastic.

Various metal finishes

We offer our frameless range with 24 standard metal finishes. If none of these suits you, we can make bespoke orders to better match. The finishes include unlacquered brass, which can build a patina over time.

3D Visualisation for approval

CAD plans can look complicated to a non-experienced client. Thus, we design our enclosures for showers in a simplified 3D view. In those plans, we indicate important moments like metal finish, glass thickness, shapes and sizes.

A realistic 3D mock-up is a great choice for seeing your shower area from different angles. We focus on the glass enclosure and essential moments for the final product. It helps to highlight missed moments in CAD before the production starts.

Various Glass Types

The choice of enclosure shower glass significantly affects the enclosure's appearance. Think carefully about the glass option before production begins. Some of us prefer a crystal-clear view, while others prefer privacy. We offer numerous glass options to consider.

clear glass sample

Clear glass

By default, we use in our shower glass enclosures 10mm thick clear glass. FYI, regular clear glass has a slight greenish tint because of iron oxide.

ultra clear glass sample

Ultra Clear Glass

An alternative to regular clear glass is low iron. It has a reduced amount of iron, so it is much purer. A white paper behind this glass won't change the finish.

frosted glass sample

Frosted Glass

We use acid-etched glass for full frosted options and sandblasted glass for partial frosting. It provides the best privacy of all glass options, which lets the light through.

grey glass sample

Tinted Glass

We supply tinted glass in green, grey and bronze colours. The thicker the glass is, the darker it gets. To get other colours, we could use laminated glass instead.

reeded glass sample

Reeded Glass

Reeded glass with straight flutes can provide some privacy. It fits nicely in traditional British decor. However, we use it only in our fully framed options for many reasons.

laminated glass with mesh inside

Mesh Laminated

We can laminate copper, brass, stainless steel, and other metal meshes between two glass panels. Yet, we seal such glass in a frame.

laminated glass with textile inside

Fabric Laminated

Instead of using mesh, we can laminate the fabric to give it a fantastic look. The fabric can absorb water on the edges, so we do this only with our framed options.

laminated glass in various colours

Colour Laminated

We can achieve more than 3,000 colour variations with glass lamination. Laminated glass consists of a plastic-like interlayer placed between two glass panels.

Choose Unique Shower Enclosures with Fused Glass.

We do not sell shower enclosures from other makers, as we manufacture them ourselves. Our goal is to become the best shower enclosure supplier for high-end projects in the UK. We offer any type of glass in our custom shower enclosures to achieve this.

melted bespoke glass sample in gold colour

Bespoke Made Fused Glass

Consider kiln-formed glass if you like unique products and want to stand out with your home decor. Fused glass is a process of melting glass to make all sorts of shapes. For example, curved glass is a similar process because we can bend it in our fused glass furnaces.

Instead of regular reeded glass, we can melt glass using different flutes or patterns. Fused glass showers require much extra work besides designing and sampling. So, such a unique shower enclosure doesn't come cheap. Yet, we offer standard patterns, which are much more affordable than making one from scratch.

Our Clients Say

We've helped thousands of clients create tailored shower enclosures and doors — even in spaces with awkward ceiling angles or tight dimensions. Our reviews speak for themselves.
